Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

I’ve Reason To Believe

An offering and some news:

Willie Nelson is awesome, but there’s no version without Paul Simon. Just ignore the Jew and concentrate on the Texan.

Willie’s phrasing is surprisingly similar to the original. Interesting. Usually he puts more of his own stamp on the vocal. Great though

I don’t think you can link an image. Try saving it to your computer and uploading from there?

Ahh okay. Don’t mind me, I get confused by the Keurig machine.

          • Thoughts On The Dead

Dude, you’re telling me. I’ve gone thru five of those damn “user-friendly” coffee machines.

I’m on my tablet thingy right now in the barn……. I’m going to try this on the laptop.

use the “upload” button below the text box – might be labelled “browse” or “choose file” or something dependent on your browser

When Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel made early-60s teen rock and roll singles, they used the name “Tom And Jerry.” Who was Tom, who was Jerry?

    • Luther Von Baconson

paul was jerry? i wish it was artie.

This one is interesting, and I decided I liked it after awhile

    …but THIS one is stupendous.

There are also versions with Emmylou on vocals, and they are good too

But this one is where it’s at. Lanois is such an underrated guitar player! And obviously Willie’s voice suits this song better than anyone’s (except Garcia).

Won’t accept pics from tablet because they are jpeg not jpg. Hmm, wish my wife wasn’t away on business……..

    • Thoughts On The Dead

Try renaming the file and see if that works. Just change the .jpeg to.jpg. Usually works for me.

      • spencer

Thanks man, I think that will do it ! I wiped my bulbous brow, smashed it with a mammoth tusk and now it’s a png?

        • Thoughts On The Dead

          Png should work.

          • spencer

On the laptop I can convert them to jpg like you said(thanks) it’s the tablet that has me fubared.

          • Thoughts On The Dead

I don’t have a tablet, so I am no help here.

          • Tor Haxson

.jpg to or from .jpeg is not conversion, just renaming.

jpg to .gif to .png is conversion and would take some application that allows “save as” or “export”

Not in the same league as Mr. Completely’s choices, but nice to see Willie rebelling against that late 70s rhinestone cowboy nonsense. Plus I’m dancing like the old guy behind him now that I am a computer genius!?

I’m a huge fan of those classic era Willie releases – Shotgun Willie, Red Headed Stranger and the rest…this is a great, classic song, love it

His version of That Lucky Old Sun is also really exceptional, just to stick to Garcia related tunes…there’s a version he did with Leon Russell too, but that one’s too busy for me

Neat stuff. I wonder if he has any of Cliff Antone, the owner of Antone’s in Austin (now passed). He was a good friend of my dad’s, a force in the bluesy side of the Austin music scene (patron of the Vaughn brothers for example), a bit of a Belushi look-alike and an affiliate of the infamous Free Mexican Air Force, which was a real thing & not just something Red Rowan made up

          • spencer

            Belushi indeed.

One more heavy hitting Willie interpretation for ya. I love him so much I don’t really know how to explain it.

        Have you been half asleep?
        And have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name
        Is this the sweet sound
        That called the young sailors?
The voice might be one in the same
