Continuing with tonight’s accidental theme of dead people working with the Dead, we can see a recent performance of Ratdog where Vincent Schiavelli sat in on the (miniature?) upright bass.

Looks to me like Schiavelli is bowing a cello.
I thought it was, but isn’t it a bit big to be a cello? Cellos fit in between small people’s knees.
I believe that is Bobert Hussein Wasserman, and he is playing a genuine bass fiddle.
Why two bass players though? I suppose by the same token one could ask “why two drummers?” Which is actually an excellent question.
No doubt you are right, I just saw Schiavelli and thought, “celli”.
Is the doubling up for redundancy?
I would enjoy pluralizing cello “cellochim” like in Hebrew and Arabic.
