- Dems take back the VA House of Delegates, including seating the nation’s first transgender politician.
- A ballot measure to expand Medicaid passed by huge numbers in Maine.
Also, Bill DiBlasio was reelected Mayor of New York City, but fuck that over-tall goober.

I spend a lot of time on political web sites (journalism, opinion, blogs), and I have to cavil in two small ways. First, Alaska could (should) be considered part of the “west coast,” given how much the Pacific influences it – legislative houses not controlled by Ds. Second, I haven’t met whoever it was/is, but I reading that this is the first out-before-being-elected transgender state legislator. It’s still great that a villain was replaced by a hero (my interpretation of that VA race).
