Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Trust Me

Enthusiasts, I wouldn’t tell you that a dry recounting of a naval voyage was the funniest goddamned thing I’ve heard in ages if it weren’t true. This one has everything: friendly fire, ghost squadrons, mind-blowing incompetence, and an admiral slowly driven insane by the numpties he’s been surrounded with.

TRUST ME. Watch it.

    Oooooo!!!!

(If that’s the story I’m thinking it is, they were actually still teaching aspects of it in the “How Not to Do It” sections of our naval history curriculum at Annapolis in the early ’80s . . . . plus, there was some TR in the story there somewhere, if I recall, and a little Teddy makes everything better. Bully!)

I was thinking you would know this story. I don’t remember Brother Theodore making an appearance, but it was right around the time of the Great White Fleet.

CHECK OUT THE VIDEO. By the time the Admiral starts making the other ships pull alongside his so he can berate their captains through a megaphone, I was crying with laughter.

TR negotiated the Treaty of Portsmouth, which ended the Russo-Japanese War. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for that, because OF COURSE he did, he’s muffuckin’ TR, bee-yotch!!! But that came just after this particular piece of idiocy. Brilliant funny film, thanks for sharing!!!
