Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

And I’m Here In Echo Park

No, it’s not the Pioneer Chicken Stand that Warren’s hanging out at in the beginning of the video; it’s the Burrito King, and there’s a song or five in that parking lot, too.

Burrito king is still there. Solid burrito in the LA style -small and lardy. Pioneer chicken I believe is long gone.

Pioneer was still there (not for long) when I moved to the nicer end of Echo Park Avenue. “Nicer” didn’t mean much when we heard a gang capo get murdered a few blocks away on a lovely Sunday afternoon. I had to move to Venice to hear my second L.A. murder, this one basically in front of our house.

Gusty winds at times around the corner of Sunset & Alvarado.

I’m geeking here, but mentioning Sunset & Alvarado made me look up how far that is from Beverly & Rampart — answer: not far at all — and “Tommy’s Original World Famous Hamburgers.” When back in L.A. from college, I’d get together with high school friends and drive all the way there for late night eats, because it’s just off the Hollywood Freeway, not far from the Harbor…

Great guitar break by David Lindley!
