Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Did You Know This Existed?

I did not. Until this evening, I had been ignorant to the fact that the theme to The Godfather had lyrics. Furthermore, I was unaware that said lyrics were over-emoted by the Moon Rover Madman himself, Andy Williams. How will these knowledges affect me? Or you? We’ll find out, I suppose.

This was on an albumen the parents had. At the time, 6 or 7 yrs old, i had it confused with the theme from Love Story, which I think was on the same albumen

I used to sing “It’s a Love Store-eee, a goofy crazy kind of silly Love Store-eee……” one of the reasons my family ultimately had me committed

But I busted out eventually and did make to an Andy Williams Concert in Sun Valley. You can see me pictured here underneath Andy’s chair

    I knew it.

Because they made us sing it in school chorus circa 1973 or so.

Also “If I Were A Rich Man” and “Everybody’s Talkin.”

Some Hippy Jesus songs too. Forget which ones . . .

That was just wrong. So wrong.

    Morning Has Broken?
There’s got to Be a Morning After?
Day by Day? or a little sumpin’ else from the Godspell Canon?

Ha, yes, “Day By Day” was definitely one!! There was awkward aryhthmic clapping involved. “Put Your Hand in the Hand” also comes to mind, I think we were forced to do that one too . . .

I played guitar on and sang “Morning Has Broken” at an outdoor Easter Sunrise Service a couple of years later, with my girlfriend harmonizing. We slipped away from the service early after our song was done and went and made out in the woods while the grownups got their God on.

    Yay, Jesus! Oh, the Seventies!
