I’m sure there’s an explanation for the cage behind Garcia beyond “the past was weird as shit,” but I can’t figure it out.
Also: this pic’s from 2/11/70 at the Fillmore East; you can listen to it here, because everything happens simultaneously nowadays.
I think this is a critical piece of information.
Timeline:
February 1970: Garcia on stage with a rusty cage
July 1970: Garcia hears Buddy Cage
November 1971: Buddy Cage replaces Garcia with the New Riders
obviously, the only two real choices to replace Garcia in NRPS would have been Buddy Cage or Poco’s Rusty Young,
Are we certain that scene is on stage and not backstage? Not that your point would be nullified even if it was backstage. They were waiting for a train in either case.
Did Buddy Cage upstage Jerry?
Bobby is thinking “SPANISH JAMMM” over and over.
I think the obvious answer is that this is what the raccoons were kept in before Mickey got a duffel bag.
Jerry is thinking
“F*CK Joshua Light Show, totally sixties man, this red light thingy on the Fender is the next thing. The light show for the 70’s”
Metal milk crate, more than likely?
3 Deads. 3 paypackets. 1 bag possibly containing rodent. Bobby looking whimsically at paypacket and/or bagged rodent. Billy gleefully sorting assorted bag rodents. i don’t know about the cage….what Corry said and John Cage….possibly.
