Hey thanks, have not seen this.

Love those early-ish, more lurky paced west la’s. They feel like JJ Cale could show up on stage at any moment.

Long story, indulge or ignore as you see fit.

    1985:
I headed south from ohio, in my datsun 310 hatchback, with the intention of either hunting mushrooms in Florida or going to the OK Zoo show.

I made the mistake of choosing opposing travel partners.

My good friend, and my girlfriend.

They did not get along. They were both challenging individuals in their own way. They are the same way today.

I am sure I was as difficult as both of them put together.

Regardless, Alabama forced our hand and my dude friend hitchhiked to OK city Zoo Show and Kansas City. Me and the girl went to Florida for mushroom hunting. Last night as a trio was in Bankhead National Forest, there were scorpions, I did not know Alabama had scorpions.

In Florida panhandle we found tons of mushrooms, it had just rained a lot. Dead cow carcass rotting after getting caught in fence line was strange.

We ruined them by not drying well enough. Had a pillowcase filled with them hanging from the rearview with the dashboard fans blowing on them for the drive home.

    Drove the backroads,
Coming through Big Stone Gap Virginia, late at night.

The WLSD radio tower as we peaked the ridge and rounded a corner, sort of freaked us out.

Stopped nearby at a bar/restaurant/gas station store or something and it was freaky in some way. I think a late shift had just gotten out and it was filled with miners or something, I forget those details of why it was weird. I just remember that get out of the car tired and walk into strange place feelings.

Rolled out of the mountains into KY, changed brake pads by the roadside, found a starving kitten and took him home.

That is why I missed the OK zoo shows.
