somebloke’s first concert was SCHEDULED to be Neil Young @ the Philly Spectrum 2/11/83…SNOWED out….
somebloke’s ACTUAL first concert was Neil Young August ’83 @ Philly Spectrum. Nowhere NEAR as good as the Feb show WOULD have been…Alas.
Somewhere along the way, somebloke also took heavily to YES…so in or around *(the lake?) summer 1989, when ABWH toured, there was a Philly Spectrum show (I believe 8/4/89) and THAT, Dear Friends, was what somebloke and his prog-rocker friends were ASKING for. What happened? To THIS song?
Didja ever notice how oddly similar WRS/Let it Grow and Big chunks of Tales/Roundabout are???
😀
Grade 10…22 inches of sheet fell…my buddy’s mum said “you guys are NOT going.” So we spent the night at his house and the next morning we ate pancakes and cleaned his parents’ house and driveway and settled for the August show, which was “Neil and the Shocking Pinks” tour, and thus a pale cousin of that Feb’s TRANS tour WOULD have been.
Around the same weeks, I was recording cassettes of LP’s of Buffalo Springfield and Neil and CSN and subconsciously digging what would become the Central Cortex of my musical brain.
Hope you and everyone else who missed that Feb ’83 show got to see a Good Neil show at SOME point. {cheers smiley}
As a close to lifelong YES fan, who has seen them in dozens of their various permutations, may I please apologize to you for your first concert being close to the worst possible YES show imaginable.
You deserved better. Though, on the upside, you did get to see non-YES dude Tony Levin playing the bass when Chris Squire decided he had better things to do.

I HAD NOTHING TO JUDGE IT AGAINST!
Bad YES is still good, and that is a pleasing video. I think Thoughts on YES would be pleasing too. Better bone up on the Factions first though . . .

My first concert was Jethro Tull. Still my favorite band some 45 years later. Early imprinting is hard to shake!
My first concert was Willie Nelson with Waylon & the Outlaws opening at Red Rocks in 1976.
first concert, in utero, was the Clancy Brothers and Massey Hall

i popped out the next day
my “In Utero” show was Strawberry Alarm Clock, July 1967.
Incense and Peppermints, the colour of time, anyone????
I also went to Expo ’67 in Mum’s belly. Family Colour slides existed of that trip.
Not too far off from Festival Express. Except I wasn’t drunk and playing guitar with Janis and Danko and Marmaduke.
