The photo is from The Orpheum Theater in San Francisco, July 18, 1976. The band had returned to touring, and ended the summer tour with six nights at the Orpheum. The young women were brought on stage to celebrate the band on the last night of the run (Sunday July 18). If I recall correctly, Bill Graham himself was “Mr Donna.”
Yes, I remember seeing this photo in the “Illustrated Trip” book. Any chance of a photo of Mr. Donna out there?
