Joni is the finest writer (music AND words) there is. Nobody (not countin’ the Beatles) who writes better words writes music as well as she does and nobody who writes better music writes better words.

Cbc mystery vocalist was ricki lee Jones for sunshine superman cover today I like her too good to know she’s still performing. I just heard pharaoh sanders is still playing but just broke his hip. I know Joni’s jazz period with Charles Mingus was awful but she still thinks it was big in Europe where they understood it. The blackface thing she made sound like an elegant identity , then you saw the picture & it’s like oh,no,cocaine madness.
