Sometimes, P-Funk sounded like Zeppelin.
And sometimes they sounded like Zappa (if Zappa didn’t suck).
And other times they just sounded like themselves.
P-Funk achieved this versatility through one simple trick: none of the above tracks feature any of the same musicians. The Dead should have tried that.
I would totes listen to a Dead show played by Grisman, Ned, Branford, Dylan, Kahn, Merl and Nelson. It could be the trainwreck to end all trainwrecks . . .
Surely there’s at least one Dead tune for which we could track down a recording of it that has each of them, right? Would love to hear the result of someone Frankenstein-ing their individual parts into one coherent version (coherence optional)
You’re right – Zappa totally sucks! How come no one realizes it?
