Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Another Visit With Lincoln

This is so responsive, intelligent, and pragmatic that I am utterly shocked it happened in New Jersey. Especially since the part of New Jersey this sign covers is one of the most traffically-confusing places on the planet: there are nine or ten major highways, and exits are scattered on either side of the road at non-predictable intervals; Route 22 will deposit you on I-95, where you need to zip across four lanes of congestion in 300 yards to make the exit for 78 on the other side. It’s a mess, and this is legitimately helpful.

On the other hand, this shit blew some minds.

“Dude, dude, dude!”

“I SEE IT, TOO, MAN!”

If Chris Christie was the Governor then, we all would have ended up stranded in a tunnel.

This from Tokyo Station, one of the wonders of the world, given its concurrent hugeness and precision. If the crappy photo publishing facilities available to the Comments people render the pic unintelligible, it is a station board showing “Deadhead Train”.

I would assume that is the train for off-duty railroad employees, rather than a special train for that Japanese Dead tribute band?

        Geeze ToTD, such a buzzkill,

DeadHead Train belongs in the semi-fictional world. Perhaps you have heard of semi-fictionality

Well, technically I think it is a train that is not carrying paying customers, returning to the depot. But that doesn’t mean I was not flipped out when I saw the sign because (a) it was in English and (b) I have never seen such a sign before or since, even though I have spent many, many, many hours on railway platforms. I interpreted it as a message from the universe, an affirmation that we are, indeed, everywhere.
