What do I tell you, Enthusiasts? There is Always a Dead Connection. Admittedly, this one’s real tenuous, but I think it counts: Bobby asking the crowd their thoughts on the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh before a funky Iko opener on 11/8/85 in Rochester, NY. This one comes to all of us from Steam Locomotive via the Best Damned Comment Section on the Innertubes, It is, rarely enough, an AUD; you know my feelings on the subject well enough to know that an AUD needs to be spectacular to pass my muster, and this one is. Big and beefy and clear, plus there’s a My Brother Esau. You literally can’t go wrong.
Big Time on the Ave always has the Bhagwan. In addition to the Scarlet Fire of course.

Oade Brothers recording. The best. If folks to care to browse for other top shelf audience recordings, click the Oade brothers hyperlink on the archive page TotD linked. Everything they did was flawless.
well not exactly; I love Doug and Jim and Carlos like brothers but their early experimentation with Neumann KM84s proved to make brighter sounding recordings. I do know what you mean though and one could make a case that the proliferation of Schoeps on tour (and right up to today) can be laid squarely at Doug’s feet. They messed around with different combos til they got it right. Then the youngsters took those same setups and went FOB.
As for Thoughts on My Ass’ scrutiny of Aud Tapes I’d like to invite him to the Biggy Bay to listen to some of our Schoeps FOB recordings on a Wilson speaker system. Anyway, love the blog, love you all.
and speaking of dead connection, Nick Sands -chemist extroardinaire, the man who literally supplied most of the LSD on tour in the 90’s, apparently according to the HEADS book p. 537 or so, went to live in india (possibly Oregon – but I don’t know if he was there for the salad bar poison plot- good times!) to the Bhagwan’s place for a while where he supplied the folks with ecstacy.
