There’s an amazing interview up somewhere (too lazy to google it) with R. Crumb who of course lives in France now…as the “village cartoonist” he felt he had to draw Muhammad, and as a provocateur he thought he should draw Muhammad’s hairy ass…but as a coward (his term) he ended up drawing the hairy ass of his friend Muhammad Bakshi.
