Featuring John Mayer as the all new, all improved Jerry Garcia. Trey who?
August 5, 2015 at 2:14 pm
Doesn’t he need more strings to be a Grateful Dead?

I’m honored and excited to share that I’ll be joining Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, and Jeff Chimenti of the Grateful Dead and John Mayer for a new venture – Dead & Company. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to try to help take the members of this iconic band to new places. http://www.deadandcompany.com

Seems a bummer that Kimock isn’t involved…
August 5, 2015 at 2:44 pm
Scheduling conflict, Kimock is playing with Phil and friends that night………..just kidding.
August 5, 2015 at 2:57 pm
Personally, I’d be happier if they just left John Mayer out of it. I seem to be in the minority, but I was underwhelmed by his performance with Bobby on the Late Late Show. I’ll be happy to eat my words, but what would he sound like on something like “Eyes”? At least Trey seemed to be familiar with the vocabulary.

DUDE UR NOT WRONG. JOHN MAYER IS A GOOD GUITAR PLAYER BUT HE CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE GRATEFUL DEADS. UR OPINION IS WONDERFUL I LOVE U John Mayer is fucking l a m e
August 5, 2015 at 3:45 pm
Kimock over Oskar Mayer for sure, i just think msg on Halloween sounds like a blast. Maybe they worry about selling out MSG without a big name ringer? I could be wrong. I’m old and need some excitement. I’m going anyways.

Hahaha. All roads lead back to Fanny Pack Lane.
August 5, 2015 at 5:52 pm
Those British flag shorts are daring. Especially when apparently not wearing undies. hahaha
August 5, 2015 at 5:54 pm
Def Leppard, apparently Mayer has eclectic tastes
August 5, 2015 at 5:49 pm
Hey Mayer is ready for the Halloween show. AaaaHoooooo. Werewolves on London. haha

Honestly, this is a major Fuck You to Phil. Phil has been doing Halloween in the New York City area for the last couple of years and for this incarnation to announce their (currently) one and only gig on the 31st exhibits some unmitigated audacity. Not to mention the siphoning of fans from Phil’s gig at the Cap Theatre. Furthermore, it harkens back to NYE 2000 when San Franciscan fans had to make the Sophie’s choice of seeing The Remainders or The Q for their New Years entertainment. Now, NYer’s have the difficult choice of how they’re going to spend their Saturday Halloween night.
If I remember it right, The Q was the hotter ticket back in 2000. Phil hasn’t announced his band for Oct 31. Maybe this influences his decision. It sound like Dead & Co. have already got Jimmy Herring under wraps.
