Mrs JES grew up with them and used to help Chris Mars with his math homework at Incarnation School, later working with the Stinsons’ sister for a lot of years at the neighborhood grocery store, while her dad was one of the drunks at one of the neighborhood bars they played in early days. That part of MPLS was real raw back then (Mrs JES is youngest of 11 children, and they were not even the biggest family in that particular Catholic ghetto), so we have special feelings about the ‘Mats for escaping it.
