FUN FACT: “Nikita” is a boy’s name.
MUCH, MUCH, MUCH FUNNER FACT: Neither Bernie Taupin nor Elton knew the previous fact until well after recording this tune.

Did’nt Bernie co-write Welcome to my Nightmare?
Perhaps you knew this, and that is why you made this nightmare inducing post?
I watched that.. I just watched it.. it hurts me, almost as bad as a deep dive into Phil Collins,
It is no fun, being an illegal alien.. Oh God now I am just punishing myself,
Stop this, please stop.

Huh? Huh?? Huh huh huh????
True Music History Fact: In that there video, Mike Rutherford becomes the Whitest White Man to Ever Play the Drums, EVAR!!!! (I point that out because I know how hard it is to not just look at Phil there in that there video there . . . ).
Great pain and suffering watching that video
Builds character.
Bernie Taupin did indeed write some songs with drinking buddy Alice Cooper, but not anything good. Nightmare was written with Dick Wagner, famous for being half of the guitar duo on Lou Reed’s Rock and Roll Animal album.

I happen to like this song and the recording, and look who wrote the lyrics. I wouldn’t put this head to head with most anything by Robert Hunter, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a decent lyric.
I sing this song, sometimes with my own lyrics, daily. Usually as Don Rickles might’ve sung it.
Another fun fact: Nikita was played by Anya Major, who is famous for starring in Apple’s “1984” TV commercial. (Thanks, Google!)
