Jaco was crazy, but he was also crazy talented. His work with Weather Report was great — I had the pleasure of seeing them, with him, at the Boston Orpheum — but my favorite is his work on Joni’s Hejira and on her Shadows & Light along with with Pat Metheny, Don Alias, and Michael Brecker. Don Alias plays with him on the Donna Lee cut (choice little pick there, btw)..
Love Bobby to smithereens and all that, and with all due respect, Bobby just wasn’t in Jaco’s league.
