The reason Dylan is Dylan and you’re not is that if you came up with those lines, you’d make them the chorus.
I know this one isn’t Bob; Garcia in the last days:

VoJ, Hands down my fav Dylan cover song by the Dead. Anyone know of a 70s show in the archive with this tune? Would luv to hear Jerry sing it with his peak voice.
BTW this 95 version is great too. Not dissing it. Jerry gives it his all.
70’s? Way too early for the Dylan Covers to have begun.
Oh ok. Thanks.
On a quick search, they broke VoJ out in 86. But I actually like the 95 version better. And I never thought I would say those words.

Garcia was doing all kinds of fantastic Dylan covers in the 70s you’re unaware of because of your absurd fetish with avoiding his solo catalog. Tough Mama, Going Going Gone, Masterpiece, Tangled, Knockin’, Positively 4th Street, Simple Twist and probably several others I’m not thinking of, plus the ridiculous studio version of Visions I just posted
Trying to figure that out, will let you know.
Check out this incredible studio version (exact date unknown, but circa late seventies to possibly to RftR sessions) with Garcia on non standard guitar/amp combo of some kind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwRlcXflqrU
it is the coolest thing ever pretty much
Ridiculous and incredible. Thanks for the Heads up

Not my favorite twist on fate but I like the video

Of not on……I spel no good
Who’s playing piano/drums?
Ozzie Ahlers on keys, Johnny Defoncesca escape on drums.

Wow! Thanks for the link. Always bittersweet when I discover something like this. What if…
What if Garcia had lived long enough to get his shit back together like Dylan did?
But thank God he and those around him were obsessed with recording what he did do.
Watkins Glen “Takes a lot to Laugh…” only one I can think of.
Whole bunch of It’s All Over Now, Baby Blues
04-22-86 at BTC is my fave. Perfect tempo for that tune. The 95’s were too darn slow.

Saw one of the last ones in Oakland in ’95. About a month before this one. They were using teleprompters by this time. Sometimes he would stay on track, sometimes he wouldn’t. I was thrilled to hear it.

When I saw this as a lad in ’86 it was so far over my head you couldn’t even see my head from where it was
