Weird synchonicity: this blog post that I read yesterday . . . https://addsomemusictoyourdayblog.wordpress.com/2020/08/27/number-five-by-steve-miller-band/ . . . made me grab the “Number Five” album and the two earlier Boz Scaggs era albums. They’re comfy and pleasant, almost choogly on occasion even. I enjoyed the listening experience, having not heard any of the stuff from the pre-“Joker” era in a long, long time, and perhaps never without being wasted while doing so, as I think about it. So now I gotta do the research as directed and see what that “Number Five” band sounded like live via your link. No matter what I conclude, though, I wouldn’t argue the results with Mr Davis. steve could hold his own for the music he was playing. Kow Kow here is almost a rough template for his later “chart toppers” to quote Unkown Hinson such as keep on rocking me, take the money and run, and jet airliner, which he swiped from Paul Pena. its a great song, but i digress

I too saw him at Buckeye Lake. Didnt like him enough to go in early. He’s good but damn if he is choogly enough for me.
