Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Guitarras Rojas

Precarious?

“Yo.”

What the fuck?

“The monitor situation?”

Yeah.

“This was Mickey’s idea. He wanted to give the crowd a chance to adjust the levels. He said it would break down the barrier between the band and the audience, or some shit like that.”

How did it work?

“Poorly. Y’see those footlights?”

Yes.

“They burn at around 800 degrees. A couple kids’ arms straight-up melted to the bulb.”

That’s not what you want.

“That’s not what anyone wants.”

Those Marshall Super Lead amps are pretty funny looking as monitor holders. They don’t look to have cables going into them or to even be powered up(seriously where is the speaker cable or line from the monitor mixer. They have two sets of inputs which don’t have a cable in them on the one with the front showing. I don’t see a Bulgin plug in the amp to the right, so that couldn’t be turned on if you wanted to). They must have been left over from Blue Cheer.

the dual mics held together by masking tape is a nice piece of work as well but begs the question, why? no wall yet so no need for phase cancelling. too many questions, so few answers.

That all depends on the year and place.

Theory: said photo is not 1969 but rather circa May 1970 after Kent State…fist on drumhead as my clue.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if the boys are singing “Dancin In The Streets” when the photo was snapped.
