Musings on the Most Ridiculous Band I Can't Stop Listening To

Meadow, Lark

band lindleyMost of the shots from the Lindley Meadows free show are more than familiar, but here’s one taken–seemingly–by a fan. (I am just assuming that a picture containing the professional photographers was not taken by said professional photographers.)

Remember, when comparing this photo to the professional or at least people-with-all-access photos, this is a lot more what it really looked like. Particularly the fuzzy parts–it was something on your glasses, or a short but frizzy haired blond chick just in front of you, or just some sort of mental haze (not fog, it doesn’t look like that).

The photographer had a good view of Jerry, couldn’t see Bob’s hands, could mostly see Donna’s hair, couldn’t see the drummers, had a good view of Phil. Good positioning.

I was moving into the dorms, missed it. Whoops. But this is what I might have seen.

The shot of Lindley Meadows I can;t remember seeing is a wide shot of the whole band/stage/crowd.

Very true. Also, no shot of Jefferson Starship, who actually played that day (they booked the Meadow, officially), and have been largely consigned to the dustbin of history.

The Jerry fixation (Panajerryic, in Ancient Greek) was strong even then. Are there Lindley Meadows photos without Jerry? I had not thought of this–this may be research worthy.

Oh, yeah: a couple of Phil by himself and one or two of Bobby and Mrs. Donna Jean.

But, yeah: mostly the Big Guy.

wow, Lindley Meadows ’75 with the Starship? Amazing. First I’ve seen.

Of course, there was another 75 GGP show with Starship, but I’m now going to write a post about that, so you’ll have to wait.

I had stumbled across it on YouTube about a year ago, this post just jogged my memory.

Just watched it. Who’da thunk such a thing existed? Silent footage from Sep 28 ’75, but before the Dead came on stage (all the evidence points to September, not May).

A crowd shot can be seen here. There are numerous other photos of the crowd and scene as well, from the SF Chronicle.
