During the cold and windy Bickershaw festival in the north of England, the Dead experimented with a new idea: “the crowd is wherever you think it is.”
Are they this way? That way? On the ground behind Billy?
Yes.

Well, considering where my seats are in Santa Clara, I hope they go back to this model.
Springsteen sells those seats, too, and he’s likes to go back there and interact with the fans and at least once a show, the whole band walks on to the little catwalk behond the drummer and faces the folks behind the stage and plays most of the song there. It’s really thoughtful.
The Dead will not be doing that.
Well, I’ll just have to hallucinate instead.
I reckon that Phil’s sweater, while a similar pattern, is a different colour to Pig’s. Which proves there were at least two. Possibly there are even more. This matter deserves deeper investigation.
You may be right, but I decided to fudge it for the joke.
BUT, the color could just be a difference in the old-timey film and stuff.
ALTHOUGH, Phil is a good eight inches taller than Pig and both sweaters appear to fit well.
It was decided in fervent unanimonity (and Ned Lagin mumbled something about “its supported by SCIENCE,fellas!”)that Phil should rotate in carefully timed and coordinated moves, thereby exposing the blissfully unaware (yet closer to immediate retinal prolapse than they’d ever in their lives be) audience only to small, tolerable sections of his sweater in each allotted timeframe. Parrish was charged with manning the stopwatch and yelling out “ROTATE LEFT!!” at the appropriate times.
